Contents: First Season: June 29, 1995 – September 21, 1995 Show #1; 6/29/95: Michael Hammer & Antiquala Michael's music, angelic in nature, sets the stage for transformation and exploration of the Divine within the Human. He composes exquisite tones and harmonies working with an archangelic aspect of himself known as Archangel Yahoel. The music reaches deep into the cellular structure awakening latent knowledge and transporting the listener into high meditative states, healings, and journeys into dimensions of light. Show #2; 7/7/95: Carol Gurney Carol is a professional in the growing field of Animal Communication or interspecies communication. As a teacher of animal telepathy, she offers comprehensive training in communication as well as bodywork with animals. She imparts practical skills that enhance human/animal relationships. For people who love and work with animals they can add a new dimension to life and improve the lives of both kingdoms. She fosters understanding of pets, learning to become sensitive to animal’s emotions, and promotion of relaxation and healing. Show #3; 7/13/95: Robert Williams Robert hungered for truth since his childhood where he was taught about other dimensions by an "invisible" friend. The saxophone became the vehicle of his search for God. Eventually he was led to meditation and study with Eastern and Western Masters and Shamans. After a near-death experience in 1979, he went into seclusion and experienced an "awakening of the heart." Robert teaches a simple, powerful process encompassing what he calls Meta Self: becoming whole, being free. His teachings are empowered with his music, Meta Harmonics, vibrations that support healing and transformation. Show #4; 7/20/95: The Chocmools: Kylie Lundahl, Reni Murez, Nyei Murez The only three disciples of Carlos Castaneda (at the time of the first airing); fierce guardian warriors ("Chocmools") demonstrate the techniques of Tensegrity, ancient magical movements that are part of the heritage of sorcerers of ancient Mexico. Show #5; 7/29/95: Christal Rivers & Marilynn Christal is an angelic poet, artist, and illustrator of books. Marilynn is a singer of extraordinary talent and love. She sings at New Age Expos, workshops, and spiritual gatherings and has a cassette and CD called "Cause to Celebrate." Marilynn has set many of her poems to music, and has added her music to many poems of others. Our Journey begins Now. Show #6; 8/3/95: Star Riparetti & Oceanna Star has been studying and working with flower essences for over ten years, following a 14-year career in nuclear medicine. She is certified as a flower essence practitioner and travels extensively. Her passion is traveling from Santa Barbara to Peru, studying the Andean Orchid Flower Essences, and conducting spiritual tours of sacred sites in Peru. She conducts workshops and receives direct information from the flowers. Star also offers flower essence certification courses. Oceanna is a singer/songwriter of extraordinary grace and beauty. She works with numerous angels and ascended masters to heal the Self and the planet and to assist in the ascension process of both. Her book ‘Journeys Into Radiance’ chronicles the information received from celestial realms. This unique show highlights scenes from the sacred wedding of Mira El and one of our cameramen, Joleth. The wedding was officiated by Wistancia. Earthstar is the creator of Enchantment Wear, seen for years at the New Age Expos. She is known for her butterflies and dyed silk scarves and clothing items. She is also a free-form dancer. Richard is Earthstar’s partner in life and in Enchantment Wear. He is also a musician, playing music from rock to new age. Show #9; 8/24/95: Julianne Everett Julianne has been counseling individuals and facilitating workshops worldwide in spiritual and personal growth since the 1960’s. Directly trained by many Ascended Masters, she works with awakening God Consciousness of the heart. They believe he has come at this time to lead the Earth and its population into the Aquarian Age of love and light. Show #11; 9/7/95: Sonny Earth Daughter, Whispering Thunder, and Ed Rockett Sonny is an extraordinary singer of the heart in the Native American style. Second Season: December 8, 1995 – June 24, 1996 Show #14; 12/8/95: Catherine Andrews & Rich Stillwell Catherine, a multi-talented visionary artist, displays many of her original paintings live. A visionary video created by Catherine is also shown. Catherine does creative dance to a background of her paintings and to original music written by the artist. Show #16; 1/5/96: Kim Robertson & Virginia Kron This show is one of the most beautifully produced shows to date. The exquisite combination of internationally recognized Celtic Harpist Kim Robertson with the magical performance of cellist Virginia Kron blesses this show. Kim plays solos and duets with Virginia. We also have video to Kim singing Angels in Disguise from her CD by the same name. Show #17; 1/19/96: Patricia Diane Cota-Robles, Kay Eileen Meyer, & Marilynn Patricia and Kay are both internationally known spiritual teachers, lecturers, and authors. They are co-founders of the non-profit, educational organization, "New Age Study of Humanities Purpose", which sponsors an Annual World Conference on Illumination every August. This is a most powerful night, as Patricia and Kay speak about being in the midst of the most accelerated shift of consciousness the world has ever seen. Patricia says "It is time to live the reality of ‘All that my Father-Mother God has is mine.’" She talks about accepting our Divine Birthright of Heaven on Earth. Show #19; 2/16/96: Commander August Stahr & Liquid Gardens Commander Stahr of the Ashtar Command talks about the Ashtar Command and the Star-Esseenia Temple of Ascension Mastery. On this show, she offers the public a simple method of contacting the Ashtar Command. She discusses Karma Clearing and spiritual discernment and talks about the ascension process for humanity and the planet. She works as a spiritual counselor and does karma clearing, light code activations, and clearing of implants and imprints. She also produces audio tapes and offers phone sessions. Liquid Gardens is the name of the music produced by Levi Chen. He says gardens are places where things grow! Mother Earth is a liquid garden as are the Oceans & Rivers. Levi creates gardens of sounds using the Chinese Harp, guitar, and many other chimes, gongs, and musical instruments. His soundscapes are peaceful and flowing; many are accompanied by his poetry. Show #20; 3/1/96: Arthur Douet & David Ault Arthur is an internationally recognized cosmic poet, teacher, and lecturer who says his purpose is to "bring to the viewer a sense of the divine as the ultimate reality — everything being One and apparent separation mere illusion." He also says, "I like to think that the divine flow of energy is the real and only art." Douet brings to our set many original paintings from his Egyptian era, his Angelic portfolio, as well as the soul portraits that he does for individuals. His art is truly a blessed gift of God! David takes the audience on a musical journey of inspiration, truth, and healing with songs from his album "The Healing Bridge". The songs are gentle yet powerful.
Show #21; 3/15/96: Sue Halstenberg & Inlakesh Sue is an accomplished artist in many fields. On this program, our focus is on her angelic art which she makes available to people worldwide through original paintings, posters, and cards. Among the many gorgeous angels featured on the show, we show one angel who many have seen open her seemingly closed eyes. Tanya Gerard & Robert Thomas are the musicians who call themselves Inlakesh and have a CD by the same name. This haunting and primal music honors the aboriginals. The didjeridoo, a 40,000 year old instrument is played, along with assorted gongs and other instruments. Show #22; 3/29/96: Julianne Everett, Omashar, & Karl Dobbratz Julianne returns to "Bridging" with an ascension update and more information about the state of our union with the Councils of the Christ, the Cosmic Mother, and God within us. For 30 years she has been a spiritual teacher; she travels internationally speaking and conducting workshops and offering tapes and her book "Heart Initiation." She offers the viewers a visualization/journey accompanied by the music of Omashar, a traveling troubadour whose music and lyrics truly open the heart and helps to make spirits soar. Show #23; 4/12/96: Morgan Green & The Earlybirds Morgan, a visionary artist brings her large scale painting "Holy Spirit" which encompasses all of the world’s major religions and paths to God in harmony. It is a piece that travels worldwide . Our camera people magically travel throughout the work. The Earlybirds Ensemble is like having an entire orchestra in the studio. He is a highly-regarded visionary artist with an intriguing personal history with angels. He appears with Paul, who is the writer of the book "Andy Lakey: Art, Angels & Miracles." Andy’s angels are totally unique in design and depicted the way the artist has seen them. In addition to their beauty and grace, his paintings emit angelic energies that can be felt. Show #48; 8/22/97: Ann West Ann was born in Glasgow, Scotland and was schooled in England. She started her career as a top photographic model in London and Europe. After moving to Los Angeles, she worked as an actress in theater, film, and television for the next ten years. In 1996, after living in the San Juan Islands and interacting daily with the resident Orca whale pods of the Puget Sound, Ann wanted to formulate a non-profit organization to help protect all whales and dolphins. November 12, 1999 Show #79; 5/28/99: Arjuna & Sudama Arjuna, a spiritual teacher & author, uniquely merges Eastern & Western philosophies combining Western techniques of hypnotherapy with Eastern spiritual tenets of the direct realization of the Truth. His spiritual searching started early in life. He became a teacher of Transcendental Meditation at 17 and studied in India for many years. His book, "Relaxing into Clear Seeing" is a guidebook with exercises designed to dissolve false identifications and break through into the essential nature of spirit and the oneness with all life. Sudama is a songwriter and recording artist who plays the Western guitar and the Eastern instruments of sitar, shakuhachi flute and zither. He has studied and played North Indian classical music for sixteen years and was a tamboura player on 11 CD's accompanying internationally renowned artists such as V. Balaji, Ali Khan and Rita Sahai. In 1989 he received a Celestial Musician award from Sri Chimnoy at the United Nations peace Meditation.

April 6, 2001 Show #105; 10/13/2000: Darren John Main & Ignacio Lopez Darren grew up on a farm in Mystic, Connecticut in a Catholic household. Although he originally found great peace in the church, adolescence brought many changes. He began to experience a shattering of faith and compassion for the institution of the Church. After literally becoming spiritually dead through drug and alcohol abuse, a depressed state lasting nearly eight years, Darren reached a pinnacle or "dark night of the soul". After experiencing a profound inner shift, he began his spiritual journey, which has taken him along the path of his own "Yellow Brick Road". Darren now lives in San Francisco where he works extensively with the HIV community. Together he and his business partner David Nelson have opened Castro Yoga, one of the premier yoga centers in San Francisco, where Darren is a spiritual counselor and Yoga Instructor. In his new book, "Spiritual Journeys Along The Yellow Brick Road", he explores the fascinating classic story of "The Wizard of Oz" from a modern, spiritual, point of view. With no art training, Deborah literally picked up a brush and began painting. An artist, entrepreneur, and organizer, she has arranged numerous workshops and large events. For more than three decades, she has worked with spiritual teachers from many traditions. Show #111; 1/12/2001: Peter Quay Wright Peter holds a Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor’s degree from Tufts University. He is on the Board of Advisors of the Bridging Heaven & Earth Foundation and he is the only Board-Certified Past-Life Regression Therapist in Santa Barbara County. Peter feels strongly that through Integral Regression Therapy, we can often find the original cause of our suffering in a past life, heal the trauma at its source, and completely resolve the issue as it affects our present life. In the final analysis, it doesn’t matter if these past-life images are actual memories or metaphors or fantasies. What is important is that lifelong problems can be healed-often in just a few sessions. Show #113; 2/9/2001: Patricia Cota-Robles & The Music of Lessia Patricia, who also appeared on "Bridging" Show # 17 with Kay Eileen Meyer and Marilynn, is an internationally known spiritual teacher, lecturer, and author. She is on the Board of Advisors of the Bridging Heaven & Earth Foundation and is co-founder of the non-profit, educational organization, "New Age Study of Humanities Purpose", which sponsors an Annual World Conference on Illumination every August. This is a most powerful night, as Patricia speaks about being in the midst of the most accelerated shift of consciousness the world has ever seen. Patricia says "It is time to live the reality of ‘All that my Father-Mother God has is mine.’" She talks about accepting our Divine Birthright of Heaven on Earth. Her main message is that our time for victory is now at hand. What we need to do now is remember who we are and why we are here. Lessia was so universally acclaimed for her appearance on Show #82 with Carolyn Kleefeld and on Show #101 with Robert Wilkinson that we wanted to make every effort to have her return to "Bridging" for another appearance. While we are still trying to work out an available date for a later show, we were able to get two videos of Lessia’s music for this show. One, "Sunrise" was performed by Lessia (and friends) at the 2000 Christmas Unity telethon, while the other, "All the Same Love", was sung by Lessia live on "Bridging". Both of these songs will be on Lessia’s recently released new album, produced by Allan and Lessia, "Lessia Bridging Heaven & Earth". Lessia is an international award-winning singer, keyboardist, composer, producer, and arranger. Her four popular family recordings--"Each and Every Miracle", "Prayer for Peace", "Listen to Me Pharaoh", and "It's All in How You See Things", have met with phenomenal success throughout the world. Many other recording artists, as well as choirs of all ages, continue to perform and record her material. Lessia recently was hired by Dreamworks as a consultant on their movie, "Prince of Egypt." She has regularly appeared on local and national television and has been commended by the White House for her work with young people. Lessia's songs reflect a sincere belief that every person has a special and unique voice in the world. Show #120; 7/6/2001: Bernie Glassman & Shelley Flanders Bernie is a key figure in American Buddhism, and as a Zen Master for over 40 years, he has dedicated himself to tirelessly relieving the suffering of his fellow man. He is renowned for his teachings and for his in-the-trenches work to relieve the suffering of the homeless, the addicted, and the people with AIDS in New York City. In 1994, Bernie founded the Peacemaker Community, a new Zen order to address social problems worldwide. The Peacemaker Community is based upon three core tenets of Bernie Glassman’s teaching. Entering a state of "not knowing" and giving up fixed ideas about oneself and the universe; bearing witness to the joy and suffering of the world; and healing oneself and the universe. Shelley was born in New York on May 8, 1948 to creative and loving parents who named her after the poet, Percy Bysch Shelley and gave her a dog named Keats when she was five. It was at about that same age when Shelley decided that something a great deal larger than she could understand fully at the time, was driving her small human frame. After graduating college, with more questions than answers, Shelley traveled to India where she spent 8 years. From the moment she arrived in New Delhi, Shelley knew that her spirit had come home. She began to have experiences that vividly reminded her the reason for her existence, past, present and future, which culminated under a tree in Goa, India. Where like, Siddhartha, she too, received enlightenment. Returning to the United States and to Santa Barbara, California, she joined forces with Allan in 1998 and began dedicating herself to helping him further develop Bridging Heaven & Earth as a vehicle for expansion and awareness--through the education of the Oneness of all life. One such story comes to mind. Egidio, while on a healing mission several years ago in Russia, was traveling on a train. He shared a compartment with a man, a stranger. Instantly, he sensed that the man had a problem with the left side of his face. When asked, the man said it was true; that he had been hurt in the Chernobyl accident, and had since been living with extreme pain from radiation poisoning and cancer in the left side of his jaw. Both men went to sleep since it was night. However, Gene spent much of the evening sending healing energy to the man. In the morning, when the man woke up, he started shrieking in amazement. He said he, no longer felt the excruciating pain that he had lived with for so long, and he said the hole in his mouth was gone -- as if someone had sewn it up. He is one of the founders of Open City, an art and literary journal, and an independent book publisher. Daniel was a 1999 - 2000 Fellow of the National Arts Journalism Program at Columbia University. He has also been a columnist for The Art Newspaper of London, and an editor at Connoisseur Magazine. Born in 1966, he grew up in New York City, where his father, Peter Pinchbeck, was an abstract painter. His mother, Joyce Johnson, was part of the Beat Generation in the 1950s. She is the author of several books, including Minor Characters, a memoir. Daniel went to Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, then worked as a magazine editor and journalist,In the late 1990s, after years of working in the media, Daniel fell into the classic existential or spiritual crisis. Life seemed to have no point or transcendent meaning. He began to feel as if he was already dead, a ghost walking around the streets of Manhattan. rare giant selenite crystal caves in Naica, Mexico. These 50 foot tall crystals were
discovered in April of 2000, 1,300 feet deep in a silver mine that has been in operation
since 1794. As seen in the April issue of the Smithsonian Institute magazine and the
September issue of Reader's Digest, these crystal are almost certain to be the largest
crystals ever discovered on Earth. Leela spent most of her life growing up in the southwest and beginning at an early

Kam was born in Hong Kong, where he spent his formative years. When he moved to the United States with his parents he furthered his studies in New York. Over the years he visited to refine his style with help from his teacher in Hong Kong. After receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering
in 1965 from Manhattan College, he moved to the San Francisco area and received an
advanced graduate degree in Engineering Studies from the University of Santa Clara. It was
while he was employed at Lockheed Aircraft near San Jose as a structural and mechanical
engineer in research and development that he opened his first dojo. In 1969, after a brief stay in Los Angeles, Kam
returned to Hong Kong to further his study in the martial arts. After training for several months, and achieving
the status of Grandmaster in Shaolin Kung-Fu, Tai Mantis Kung-Fu, Tai Chi Chuan and Qi
Gong he returned to the United States. Back in Los Angeles, he held numerous classes at local
YMCAs, the Chinatown Recreation Hall, Cal State, UCLA, and USC. Kam is the founder of the "Shaolin West
Healing Center" and co-founder of the "Tai Mantis Kung Fu Assoc". He has been the featured speaker at the world
medical Qi Gong conference in Beijing as well as at several Whole Life and New Life Expos
here in the US. Early in 1972, Kam was called by Warner Brothers
Studio to act as technical advisor to David Carradine in the Kung-Fu series. Mr. Carradine has been quoted as saying
that he based the Caine character in that show on Kam.
Mr. Carradine dedicated his book The Spirit of Shaolin to Kam. Kam holds licenses in the following healthcare fields:

For fifteen years prior to founding everyday gandhis®, Cyndi was a consultant offering bilingual mediation and conflict resolution training for schools and organizations in California and New Mexico. She produced a series of award-winning educational videos with teacher’s guides on mediation with children (“The Breakthrough….choosing a new road”, winner of the National Educational Media Network Silver Apple Award.) Cyndi is a graduate of the College of Creative Studies, University of California Santa Barbara, and holds a Master’s Degree in Human development and a K-12 Teaching Credential from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, California. She has studied conflict transformation with John Paul Lederach and at the Eastern Mennonite University Conflict Transformation Program. In January 1999, Cyndi enrolled in a course at the Conflict Transformation
Program at the Eastern Mennonite University. She
was astounded when she heard the stories of the peacebuilding work that was happening in
high conflict regions all over the world. That
summer, she returned with a cameraman to begin recording the stories of these
‘everyday gandhis®’. Intending to
tape three interviews, she returned with fourteen. That was the beginning of the everyday
gandhis® project. Founded in 1999, everyday
gandhis® project is a 501 C (3) non-profit corporation seeking to tell the story of how
peace is created. Based in Santa Barbara,
California, the work of the everyday gandhis is focused at this time on the unfolding
story of peace in war-torn West Africa, particularly, Liberia. To this end, they are supporting and documenting several strategic, community-based peacebuilding initiatives, with an emphasis on indigenous peacemaking, and traditional mourning and community-building ceremonies. Everyday ghandis has equipped and trained five grassroots camera teams in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana to document stories of peacemaking and to create a living narrative of peace in the region. These teams form the peace media initiative known as Peace News Network, PNN™. In close partnership with the Liberia Chapter of the West Africa Network for Peace Building, everyday ghandis recently opened an office and digital editing facility in Monrovia, Liberia. William is everyday ghandis West Africa Program Coordinator and first
Peacebuilder-in-Residence at everyday gandhis® project. His work is presently rooted in
West Africa, particularly his home-country Liberia where the everyday gandhis® project is
working with local groups, mainly women and traditional healers (ZOs) to support the
reviving of indigenous cultural practices through traditional mourning and feasting
ceremonies at the community level.
As a Trauma Healing specialist, William has extensive and impressive background in
community reconciliation and peace building and has worked closely with several
communities on issues relating to trauma healing, peace and reconciliation. He coordinates
five peace media teams in West Africa, based in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire,
Northern Ghana and the Buduburam Refugee Camp near Accra, Ghana.
Through this peace media collaborative which is a joint initiative of the everyday
gandhis® project and the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP), several
grassroots peacebuilders have the opportunity to view and tell the stories of
peacebuilding in their own words. The goal is to infuse stories of peacebuilding in the
‘mainstream media’. As Peacebuilder-in-Residence, his work aims specifically at educating the local
community
in Santa Barbara and within the United States about peacebuilding experiences and
its principles.
William is eager and available for lectures and workshops in schools, for
appearances and interviews with the media, and for conversations and discussion groups
with civic organizations.
Abroad, William has participated in and conducted numerous training workshops in
Peacebuilding in a number of countries in Africa and Europe.
In 2003, he served at the regional West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP)
Secretariat based in Ghana as Program Coordinator for the Capacity Building Program in
Conflict Prevention, Good Governance and Peacebuilding for Civil Society Organizations and
ECOWAS in West Africa; he was research fellow and visiting trainer to the Responding to
Conflict Programme in Birmingham, UK in 2002; and in 2000, he was guest lecturer in the
African Studies course at the International People’s college in Denmark. Prior to
that, William was Chief Trainer of the Trauma Healing, Reconciliation and Peacebuilding
project of the Lutheran World Federation in Liberia, working with traumatized victims of
the brutal and devastating civil war in Liberia. Amongst other recognitions, he is a recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

artist and environmental and animal activist (and joyous and loving collaborator in the
Bridging Art Project), was born in St-Lambert, Province of Quebec, in the suburb of
Montreal, Canada. She grew up with a desire to make a contribution to the world. At a
young age she was already fascinated with curvilinear lines and splashes of colors. She
also spent many nights wondering about the stars, the universe, and the purpose of
existence and being. The very young artist filled countless hours drawing as a child. Her
interests also extended to performing arts, and her mother encouraged her to pursue ballet
and theatre, which she did for over twelve years. At seventeen years old, she suffered a
serious car crash in Montreal, which put an end to her emerging profession as a ballerina
with Les Ballet Moderne Du Quebec. Vivianne then studied Dramatic Art in college, going on
to pursue acting and modeling for the following decade. She did a series of TV commercials
and prints, which eventually led her to travel to Latin America and the USA. She fell in
love with the United States and in 1985 decided to stay. Destined to become a painter, she
emerged in 2001 after graduating Magna cum Laude while receiving a B.F.A. from San
Francisco State University with a minor in creative writing in 1999-2000. Vivianne
has traveled extensively to the United Stated, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, France,
Spain, Italy, Poland, Holland, Belgium, Greece, England and Austria to study and visit
museums. The essence of Vivianne’s free
spirit is truly of a renaissance and spiritually awakened being. Naturally gifted with

Ph.D. in physics from India’s IIT and a Sloane Foundation fellowship for postdoctoral
work at UCLA.
Later he achieved international recognition and success as a co-inventor of the
laser technology that made LASIK eye surgery possible. Mani’s contributions to science merited election as a fellow to the American
Physical Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, while his
successes won him a spot on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.
Eventually he discovered that “happiness is an inside job” and immersed
himself in study of the relationship between science and spirituality and the integration
of mind and matter.
He has published over fifty papers in professional journals and maintains a lively
correspondence with other physicists around the world. Mani is revered in his native Bengal, where he launched and oversees the Mani
Bhaumik Educational Foundation, providing full scholarships for the study of science,
medicine, and engineering to sixty-seven underprivileged young men and women.
A biography entitled, Mani the Jewel, has been a consistent bestseller in
his native Bengal.
Mani’s alma mater, IIT, has awarded him an honorary D.Sc. degree for lifetime
academic achievement. Mani lives
in Southern California and is the author of an extraordinary new book, Code Name God.
We intend to discuss the International Bridging Art Project and show some of the many, many, magical and wondrous pieces, from all over the world and from all ages, colors and creeds, that have already arrived at the Foundation facilities. The Bridging Art Project is, simply: "a
world-wide energy amplifying process using art and the collective energies of
many.....basically it is that each artist produces an all-new (so it is fresh, spontaneous
and NOW) work of art (painting, sculpture, collage....anything that comes through them)
based on the theme " Bridging Heaven & Earth "....the collective
energies of so many unbelievable, creative, people, from all over the world thinking,
meditating on, and manifesting “Bridging Heaven & Earth "

we will put the art on the Bridging television show that goes out all over the U.S. to
over 150 cities and is shown on the Internet.....we will put all pieces on our website and
feature them in the Bridging newsletter....gallery openings, shows at beautiful venues,
possibly a book of the "Bridging Heaven & Earth" art down the

whatever we sell the art for will be split with the artist and the Bridging Foundation so

Show #190; 10/14/2005: Karen Morrissey Karen is a former health care executive who left the corporate world to form
a non-profit entity called Shoes for the Soul.
The only daughter of a first-generation American family deeply steeped in their
faith and charitable undertakings, Karen started on her path with a career in the area of
immigration law focusing on consular visa, asylum and refugee work in the U.S., Turkey,
Pakistan and Europe.
Karen’s early career included time at two of the country’s top law firms,
Patton, Boggs & Blow and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in Washington, D.C. In the spirit of giving, Karen has long pursued philanthropic interests.
She has volunteered in Turkey for both the United Nations High Commission for
Refugees and Amnesty International.
Her volunteer work includes Special Olympics, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, The
American Heart Association and Habitat for Humanity, as well as charitable committee
endeavours with Food for the Poor and Catholic Charities. In the Spring of 2002, Karen took a leave of absence from the corporate world to
pursue other endeavours. Shortly thereafter, she founded Shoes for the Soul, Inc., an
organization where she serves as President and Executive Director, responsible for the
introduction, development, management and operations of this innovative, grassroots
non-profit, whose mission is dedicated to placing a new pair of shoes on the feet of
economically challenged children in South Florida. Via her initiative and partnering with
Broward County Children’s Services and the Homeless Education Program, Shoes for the
Soul’s first program was “Shoes for Homeless Children” which services
children in 15 homeless shelters in Broward County, Florida. In January of 2005, Karen was a recipient of Family Circle Magazine 7th
Annual Halo Award “Women Who Make a Difference” in recognition for her
extraordinary efforts to help others, which has led to interest of chapter affiliates in
several states.
Since
launching the organization, Karen’s initiatives have led to the distribution of over
25,000 pairs of new shoes through over 100 social service agencies, including homeless
shelters, community based hospital organizations and other nonprofits serving children.
She has been highlighted on Woman to Woman, Giving Woman of South Florida,
appeared on NBC6 South Florida Today and in numerous stories in the Miami Herald and the
Sun Sentinel.
After asking Donald J. Pliner to help with her initiative, he became an Honorary
Board member in 2003 and has been a great supporter of her efforts, hosting an annual
fundraising event in his South Florida stores.
Her success with Shoes for the Soul, Inc. and demand far and wide has lead to its
growth beyond South Florida. Via Karen’s efforts, Shoes for the Soul has partnered with Miami’s CBS Channel
4 Neighbors for Neighbors, to
“kick-off” their Shoes for Africa campaign with a local international church,
and provided over 4,200 pairs of shoes and boots for Kenya, which will be distributed in
December 2005.
Special distributions and initiatives are encouraged at Shoes for the Soul. On
September 11, 2004, 22 pallets of work boots were distributed to men, woman and youth in
South Florida allowing other nonprofits the opportunity to help their clients who were
enrolled in work-related programs.
Most recently, within days of Hurricane Katrina, over 600 pairs of women’s
canvas work boots were shipped to Biloxi, MS to aid with clean-up efforts with plans to
ship an additional 1,000 pairs of shoes to the devastated region.
Today, Karen is a stepmother to five children and grandmother to three and lives

Show #191; 10/14/2005: Kathy Skerritt and Patricia Karen Gagic Kathy is a native of Cleveland,
Ohio and a 1980 graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University (BFA), where she majored in
painting. Exposure to world cultures and geographies has been a significant influence on
her artistic process. Of particular
importance have been travels to locales in Africa, India, the Far East, and Europe. Many hours traveling in planes and viewing the
Earth from above led her to note common patterns between apparently disparate habitats. This was followed by her subsequent on-the-ground
encounters with the peoples of these countries through which common patterns between their
apparently disparate cultures became obvious. Kathy’s
curiosity about human relations, physics, sacred geometry, and the natural environment
were thus stimulated, and this provides the basis for her artistic consideration of
natural, and potentially universal, structures and states.
Her work can be described as the exploration of energy templates arising from an
intuitive response to the patterns and states observed. Intellectual influences include Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud, and Victor Frankl. Artistic influences include, O’Keefe, Picasso, Pollack, Gaudi, and Klimt. Among the living, Bourgeois, Goldsworthy, and Jamali provide continuing intrigue, while the Master Artist Adi Da Samraj serves as the single greatest influence on her work, particularly in the area of her consideration of light as the source condition of the structures and states that she paints. In 2004, Kathy was invited to
participate as one of 20 artists featured in the extraordinary Portfolio Project being
developed by the Colours of Freedom Foundation
of Toronto, Canada (www.ColoursOfFreedom.com). The Colours
of Freedom Foundation, formed in response to the events of September 11, “is
devoted to the development and implementation of programs and curricula that bring
children together in dialogue, exchange of ideas, culture and shared experiences”. The Colours
of Freedom Children’s Peace Initiatives Fund within the Foundation is the vehicle
for raising financial support for these engagements with the world, and The Portfolio
Project is the primary fund raising tool. In
2005 Skerritt was appointed an Advisor to the Foundation. This opportunity to put her art into the service of global peace initiatives is for Kathy a right use of the potential of art to heal. It is in this spirit that she is honored to participate in the Bridging Heaven and Earth Art Project.
